Speciality Diets
People are looking for alternatives to mainstream food and eat specialised diets for many reasons. Often a person has been recommended a diet by a naturopath or nutritionist that includes or excludes certain foods for reasons such as detoxification, and in the treatment of health conditions. Some people experience allergies or intolerance to certain foods. These foods need eliminating and alternatives are required. Others may choose to exclude specific foods for general health reasons. A growing number of people are looking to ‘functional’ foods which have a specific action in the body. Such an example is a food that has been produced to have a low ‘Glycaemic Index’, that is it increases blood sugar levels slowly on digestion and absorption, and is therefore of benefit to diabetics and those who are over-weight. No one diet fits all, although there are guidelines that constitute a basic healthy diet (please refer to our Basic Nutritional Diet). SPECIALITY DIET PROGRAMS
